Measurement of B ( K + → π + νν ) 1

چکیده
The experimental measurement of K→πνν is reviewed. New results from experiment E787 at BNL are presented: with data from 1995–97 the branching ratio has been measured to be B(K→πνν ) = (1.5 −1.2) × 10 . The future prospects for additional data in this mode are examined.

Future Kaon Programs at BNL , FNAL 1
Future kaon decay programs at BNL and FNAL are discussed. The primary focus of these programs is the measurement of the golden modes, K • L → π • νν and K + → π + νν. The observation of K + → π + νν by E787 at BNL is the first step in a series of measurements which will completely determine the unitarity triangle within the kaon system. The next step after E787 in the measurement of B(K + → π +...
متن کاملJ an 1 99 7 E 787 : A Search for the Rare Decay K + → π + νν Steve
Recent results from the first phase of the E787 experiment and an update on the current status are presented. From the first phase the limit on the K + → π + νν branching ratio is BR(K + → π + νν) < 2.4 × 10 −9. An observation of the decay K + → π + µ + µ − has been made using two separate techniques. An observation of the decay K + → π + γγ has been made and the distribution of two photon inva...
متن کاملDecays from Experiment E787
This paper presents the latest results from experiment E787, at Brookhaven National Laboratory, on K + → π + νν and radiative K + decays. The result for K + → π + νν uses data collected in runs taken during 1995, 1996 and 1997. In addition, we discuss plans for future measurements of K + → π + νν. This decay mode is a very clean probe of the dynamics of the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) mixin...
متن کاملKaon Physics at Bnl
The rare kaon decay program at BNL is summarized. A brief review of recent results is provided along with a discussion of prospects for the future of this program. The primary focus is the two golden modes: K + → π + νν and K • L → π • νν. The first step in an ambitious program to precisely measure both branching ratios has been successfully completed with the observation of two K + → π + νν ev...
